Surprises in the mail! :)

September 24, 2010

Worked this morning and it was raining, so we didn't have any outside time today, which totally makes the day drag. I was in the baby room with Erin for an hour and then, as I was getting ready to leave, she asked if I could stay while she finished changing her last diaper. I said that I probably shouldn't because I'd get yelled at, but I didn't want to leave her with a child fighting having his poopy diaper changed. Literally, two seconds later, Jan walks in and tells me that I really need to get back to my other room and Erin explained that she needed help. Jan's face was clearly pissed off, but I ended up only going back to my classroom five minutes past when I was supposed to. Seriously. She needed help.

On my lunch break, I checked my mail and had TWO packages! One was from Darrick and one was from Jacey, but I wouldn't let myself open them until the end of the day, so that I had something to look forward to.

Went back to work and Yailyn pissed me off by telling me that I needed to check all of the diapers because one of the kids was poopy. First off, I told her in advance that I can't smell anything right now because of my cold and, second, I changed all of the diaper all afternoon yesterday and the first shift this afternoon, so I politely told her that I would, but that she could do this afternoon since I've done them all the last two days. Grrr! She freaking pisses me off because she can't do her own job and my job is ten times harder in the afternoon when I have to work with her than my morning with Yana. However, I had a kind of sweet redemption when Yana came in and told me we're doing chinese food at her house on Saturday night and Yailyn was upset because she wasn't invited. Ummm.. News flash: If you're rude, people don't want to hang out with you outside of work... Okay... Taking off my bitch hat now.

I came home, ate dinner and opened my packages. From Jacey, I got the Iowa newspaper compliments of her dad, Charlie St. Cloud the book, a bag of pickle chips and a hilarious "pawsport" card that has pictures and voices of cats across the world telling me Happy Birthday in different accents. From Darrick, I got two of his delicious cookies, which are pretty much heaven in my mouth and a letter. :)

I then went down and talked to the boy for several long hours. Tonight ended up with my pretty much telling him that I'm i love with him, which, knowing he's hesitant to use the word, he responded with virtually every sentiment except the word. Boys. ha ha He did give me this song called Huckleberry by Toby Keith, which he said will be the song he plays at his wedding and his future wife's name will be Huckleberry. He now calls me his Huckleberry. Ah. ha ha

I then came home and watched How I Met Your Mother and then got a call about not checking in with Camp. Whoops! Totally forgot. However, we didn't have our PC's number, so we had to walk all the way down for internet and got flashed by the MPS... Honestly. How much harm could I do? I was in Christmas pj bottoms and Darrick' sweatshirt! We thought we were going to get in trouble for being out late, but we ended up getting the number and crawling into bed when we got home. Thank goodness!

Things I learned today:
1. You walk around base late at night, you're bound to be either stopped or have the MP's lights flash at you.
