I worked in the preschool room and toddler room this morning and had Erin's help for a couple of the parts, so it actually wasn't too terrible of a morning.
Then, waiting for Erin to get out of her class, so that we could go for our lunch break, I was waiting near the front when I noticed that Jo and Jan were fighting, which was really awkward, so I went down and waited outside of Erin's room to be a little more discreet. She was writing up an accident report, so we ended up starting our lunch break a little late, but I used the rest of the time to e-mail Darrick since I wont get to talk to him tonight. Bummer.
Went back to work and all of the kids woke up early, so I ended up calling Jan to come and sit with the kids so that I could change the diapers without them killing each other while my hands were tied. It took me forever to get it all done, but I eventually succeeded. Thank goodness.
Went and gave Tasha her break this afternoon and ashe was late as usual. While I was in the preschool room, Jan came in and asked me who was playing with the blocks and I told her that they were already out when I came into the room. Jan, asking Tasha pretty much the second she got into the room, was told that they weren't out when Tasha was in the room, which was a total lie and made Jan utter some slighty rude comment about having to teach Tasha and I how to be aware of our environments. Umm.. Excuse me? The damn toys were on the ground with no kids near them when I came in to give Tasha her 15 minute break that ended up being 25. My ass would be whipped raw if I showed up ten minutes late to work, but apparently it's okay for staff members who only work half days to take double their alloted break time. Grrr...
Also, while I was still in the preschool room waiting for Tasha to get back, Jan overheard me tell a kid she couldn't play in the kitchen area because Tasha, the head teacher in the afternoon, had told me that it was closed. Jan freaked out on me and told me that it's open centers and everything is open. Sorry. It's not my classroom and I was just doing what the teacher asked me to do, so don't take it out on me. Wait for Tasha to return from her lengthy break, please.
I then went outside at 4 like we normally do because it was actually nice enough weather-wise today only to find out that Jan had told Tasha that we now had to go outside from 3-4 because of the weather and upcoming time change. Jan claimed that she had told everyone, but she conveniently forgot to tell anyone else except Tasha.
While Yailyn was changing diapers, taking her typical 45 minutes to change 5 diapers (I can do all 5 in 25 minutes with potty training) Sara, one of our headstrong two year olds, threw a fit for fifteen minutes. Kind of letting Yailyn deal with it herself (she had one kid where I had the other 4), she finally asked for help, so I went over, talked to Sara and made her listen. It's so frustrating. It seriously makes my job ten times harder when I have to work with Yailyn because she's pretty much helpless.
Then came home and Yana told us that she had to cancel on the movie because her husband wasn't going to be home and she'd have Camilla. So, Erin and I went over and talked to Miss Sallie for a little bit who, bless her heart, bought me a bottle of champagne as a Happy Belated Birthday present. She gave me a worry stone and some of her leftover groceries that she was just going to throw out while we were waiting for Yana to come and pick us up for dinner. Heading into Banbury, we saw the Lady of Banbury statue and then ate at this really good restaurant with an amazing bar. I ordered the Boston for dinner, which was basically just a tuna fish sandwich on chiabatta bread. And then, as a treat, Sallie paid for dinner.
Came home and visited with Sallie for 3 hours over the bottle of champagne. Cynthia came over for a little bit and we just swapped stories and ended up talking a lot about politics. I am going to miss Miss Sallie so much!
Things I learned today:
1. There is actually a poem about the Lady of Banbury and now I have been to Banbury and seen the statue of the Lady from Banbury.
2. Sallie makes double the cost of our dinner for 4 in just her per-diem. That's not even including her salary for a day! WOW!
