Hypocrites!

October 5, 2010

I worked in preschool for two hours this morning and then Erin came in and helped in the mini-gym, so it wasn't a terrible morning at all!

However, we did ask if we could work extra long days to get one day off and we were flat out told no. Ummm... We're your ONLY full time employees and everyone else in the God damn center has or will be taking days off while we are there. Not sure why our offering to work OVERTIME to get one lousy day off equates an automatic no. It's seriously ridiculous!

At lunch, Erin and I went and paid Nigel for the horseback riding trip this weekend and then went to the library where, because we're on heightened security - level Charlie, we had to show our military ID card before we could even be let in the door. Nice to know that they're taking precautions, but so glad that I actually brought my military ID card to work with me. Whew!

Went back to work and I cut out stars during nap time. Went and gave Tasha her break this afternoon and literally just set up two table activities when Jan came over the intercom to tell me that it was open centers and the kids could do whatever they wanted. No shit. I've worked in this room during this time several times. I know! Let me do my job while you sit up on your ass in the front and stare at the monitors. If you have a better way to do it than what is working for me then be my guest. Come on back and take over! Then, literally two minutes after the kids had all settled into an activity, she sent me Erin to help control the kids.. Umm.. Each kid was sitting down doing something. No one was running around the room. They were all under control. Seriously. I've never been so frustrated with management before. It's insane!

I did have one really adorable moment in the red room when I first came in, which included Mackenzie running up to give me a hug, while Jordan stood across the room saying, "I missed you" over and over again. And then, of course, the other kids all had to come in. I kind of felt like a celebrity. he he

Went back in the yellow room with Yana and she could tell I was done with the kids who were not listening, so she let me finish diapers so that I could get away from them. Bless her heart.

Came down to internet and got in an argument with Darrick and, halfway through, both of us were like, "What are we even fighting about?" I think it's just stress from both of our works, but it was seriously lame. ha ha Restarted the conversation and it ended up much better than it started. :)

Then came home and watched How I Met Your Mother and ate some Mac and Cheese and corn dogs. ha ha We're such little kids on our dinner choice tonight. We then watched an episode of Grey's and tried to go to bed early, but we both ended up venting for 40 minutes before finally deciding it wasn't healthy and we just needed to go to bed.

Things I learned today:
1. Apparently a college education and being half way through your masters does not equate to having worked in a pre-school for six years... Ummm... Pretty sure if we're going off the experience versus age scale, I'd win. Just saying.
